Special Tactical Officers (STO) 2014 Professional Development (Suspense 5 April 2014)

1. This message highlights program and application information for the STO PDT program. The deadline for applications is 5 April 2014. Selections will be made by the Special Tactics Assessment Director on 15 April 2014.

2. The STO PDT is a 12-day program at Hurlburt Field FL, for select AFROTC cadets who are considering STO as a career choice. The tentative dates are 14-26 July 2014. This program is hosted and funded by the 24th Special Operations Wing in coordination with Air Force Special Operations Command and the 1st Special Operations Wing.

3. The PDT has no bearing on the STO application process or selection boards, but will help identify likely future applicants. Each session will include mission briefs, interviews with leadership, physical training, equipment demonstrations and field training events. Being a STO comes with significant personal risk and sacrifice, and requires extended periods of duty away from home. The decision to try out should not be taken lightly. This program is designed to assist in making an informed choice. It will also motivate and prepare cadets for success in the STO selection process. Opportunities to meet STOs at all levels of leadership will offer unparalleled insight into what makes Special Tactics forces so important to the nation’s defense. Feedback will be given to each participant in order to foster personal and professional improvement.
