Colonel Alexander Heyman is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 075 and Professor of Aerospace Studies, San Diego State University, San Diego, California. In this position, he leads a team of seven Airmen to recruit, educate, train, and evaluate prospective officer candidates for commissioned service in the U.S. Air Force and Space Force through academic instruction on Air Force organization, history, leadership, doctrine, and communications skills with emphasis on professionalism and physical fitness. Detachment 075 also includes cadets from sixteen cross-town institutions… Best in the West!
Col Heyman is a 2000 graduate of Duke University, Durham, NC, where he received his commission via Air Force ROTC, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He is a Command Pilot with more than 2800 total hours of flight time in the F-16, T-37, T-6 and T-38 aircraft. He has deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Operation NOBLE EAGLE, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to this assignment, he was the Commander, 14th Operations Group, Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi.
